Blacked Out

from Novellus by Daniel Schauer

/

about

Things were getting a bit too heavy on the album by this point, so I wanted to write something with a bit more fun in it.

lyrics

She said, “I hope you’re ready to be in the dark” // As our fire starved two weeks shy of March
We exchange looks from worried eyes // As the cold closes in from all sides

The power’s been out since New Year’s Eve // The grid overloaded with the ravalries
And ever since, we’ve been struggling // The streets are overrun with vigilantes

I SAID “WELL HOOOOOOLD ON… TO YOUR BUTTS,”
I SAID “HOOOOLD ON… YOU DON’T KNOW… WHERE THIS GOES

I said, “I blame you for your own shortcomings,” // “No one else decides to ignore so many things,”
“And I know that these word may strain your heart,” // “But close quarters are tearing us apart”

I SAID “WELL HOOOOOOLD ON… TO YOUR BUTTS,”
I SAID “HOOOOLD ON… YOU DON’T KNOW… WHERE THIS GOES
